Dear PHurst451 aka Phillip,
I have enjoyed the Beasties from time to time but am not a fan and had never seen the concert video you mention, though I will definitely be looking it up now. However, I think Blair Witch was a different proposition as it was filmed specifically for release as a feature, though meant to look like a freaky home video. It was certainly pioneering on several levels but the thing that got me about the MMJ video was the total spontaneity and the fact that much of it was shot on cell phones.
By the way, I haven't had a chance to rent Cloverfield yet but it's on my short list. thanks for the comments.

I've got to think Blair Witch was the pioneering "home video" POV mass release. I just saw Cloverfield last week, which obviously owes a great deal to Blair on that front. Now the YouTube revolution has now seemingly turned anyone with at least an arm, an eye and a camera into a producer. The MMJ video (from the sounds of it) probably follows the Beastie Boys "Awesome: I Shot That", a feature-length concert video shot by a bunch of fans whom they gave cameras. Check it out to more, esp. if you're a BB fan.
